1 End of year expectations in Maths for Year 1 Count reliably to 100, forwards and backwards starting from 0, 1 or any number Count on and back in multiples of 2, 5, and 10 Read and write all numbers to 100 Identify one more and less than a given number Identify and represent numbers using a number line and pictorial representations Use the language of equal to, more than, less than, fewer, most, least Know and use the signs + (addition) - (subtraction) = (equals) Know by heart and represent all number bonds and related subtraction facts to 20 e.g. 2 + 8 = 10 so 10 – 8 = 2

2 Add and subtract 1-digit and 2-digit numbers to 20, including zero Solve one-step problems that involve addition and subtraction, including missing number problems, such as 7 = ? - 9 Addition doubles for numbers below 10 ( 1+1, 2+2, etc …) Recognise odd and even numbers Half of even numbers below 20 (e.g. half of 8 is 4, half of 10 is 5 etc ) Solve one-step problems involving multiplication and division using objects, pictorial representations and arrays with support Recognise, find and name a half as one of two equal parts of an object, shape or quantity and a quarter as one part of 4 equal parts

3 Compare, describe and solve practical problems for length and height e.g. long/short, taller/shorter, tall/short, double/half Compare, describe and solve practical problems for weight and mass e.g. heavy/light, heavier than, lighter than Compare, describe and solve practical problems for capacity and volume e.g. full/ empty, half / quarter full, half, more than, less than Compare, describe and solve practical problems for time e.g. quicker, slower, earlier, later Measure and begin to record length, height, weight/ mass, capacity, volume, time (hours, minutes, seconds) Recognise and use language related to dates such as the days of the week and months of the year, week, month, year

4 Sequence events in chronological order using language such as next, first, today, tomorrow, yesterday, morning, afternoon, evening Tell the time to the hour and half hour and draw hands on clock to show these times Recognise and know the values of all coins and notes in the UK Recognise, name and describe simple 2D and 3D shapes e.g. a square has 4 sides and 4 corners, a cylinder has 3 faces and 2 edges Describe position, directions and movements, including whole, half, quarter and three-quarter turns
