41 Overview of High Availability Cluster: A pair of standard NetApp controllers (nodes) that share access to separately owned sets of disks, in a shared-nothing architecture Also referred to as redundant controllers Logical configuration is active-active. A pseudo active-passive config is achieved by owning all disks under one controller (except for a boot disk set under the partner controller). Dual-ported disks are cross-connected between controllers via independent Fibre Channel links High speed interconnect between controllers acts as a “ heartbeat ” link and also path for NV-RAM mirror Provides high availability in the presence of catastrophic hardware failures
