Muon Spectrometer Detector Description Outline: - Present situation - Missing elements - New chain to update parameters - Alignment issues - GeoModel issues - Manpower issues

R_Light_01_01 (R): ATL- CSC-01-00-00  primary numbers coming from plans  Reference: allow cross check and debugging with Alignment software R_Light_01_01_EGG(R'):  egg shape (7.5 mm in vertical direction, except BEE) all chambers barrel & end cap are moved R_Light_01_01_EGG_RNDM (R”): ATL-CSC- 01-01-00  egg shape (7.5 mm in vertical direction)overestimated (4mm)  shifts: ~1mm in 3 space directionsunderestimated (2 to 4 mm)  tilts: ~1mrd in 3 space directionsunderestimated (2 to 4 mm)

Saddle Small & big wheel supports MDT barrel supports CSC supports ID patch panels Access platforms Platforms sector 13 Services (cable tray...) Tomograph data....  B lack already in primary numbers (AMDB) but not in GeoModel/G4  Red not yet implemented anywhere

GeoModelG4 Active part Dead Matter OraclePrimary numbers AMDB automatic-translation Reconstruction

Primary numbers coming from plans  active part : MDT,RPC,TGC,CSC  dead part: coils, feet, cryostat,..  ~50 000 parameters  No clashes : only one way to debug: PERSINT

AMDB description  D-line : objects Dimensions  P-line : objects Positioning  H-line : Cuts out  A-line : alignment correction (x,y,z,,q x q y,q z )  B-line : MDT deformations (8 parameters) never been tested

Old way to update Oracle DB  Active part: complicated chain to create SQL files no maintenance possible primary numbers vs Oracle checked (AmdcOracle Svc) position deduced from primary number vs GeoModel checked (AmdcMGM)  Dead part : complicated chain, no maintenance possible, update very difficult  no way to compare easily primary numbers and Oracle parameters due the absence of BREP'S & Boolean in GeoModel/G4 coil, feet,... done long time ago, parameters no coming from primary numbers => CLASHES

New way to update Oracle DB  Active part: New chain, clean, from primary numbers to SQL files NTU Athena / Saclay share the job SQL files are easier to update Oracle DB CSC cosmic set-up do in that way need to validate with r_01_01 the new path need to update primary numbers to Oracle  Dead part : primary numbers already in Oracle

New way to update GeoModel  Dead part : Source-to-source translator written to automatically go from XML to C++  prototype ok  update on BREP'S & G4 in place Work to be done to validate the new path  stopper: need to debug GeoModel for BREP'S  need to validate G4 new volumes  read at initialisation phase primary numbers from oracle DB  validation for an already existing volume (ex.: Voussoirs) with muons  update all dead matters parameters  full validation

Primary numbers update  JF.Laporte & D.Pomarede Software to update Oracle DB : Active part  JF.Laporte, A. Ailiopoulos,V.Tsulaia & M Koratzinos Software to update Oracle DB : Dead matter part  M Koratzinos & A.Barashkou GeoModel  S.Spagnolo & V.Tsulaia GeoModel/G4 translation  V.Tsulaia

JF.Laporte 10% D.Pomarede 5% A. Ailiopoulos50 % V.Tsulaia 10 % M Koratzinos100% last 5 months 0% A.Barashkou10% S.Spagnolo 30% Total FTE : 1.15 50 000 parameters!!! 7000 m2 chambers!!
