2 -Questions- 1. What country has the largest column? What are the reasons that you think that this country has the highest amount? 2. What country has the smallest/lowest? What reasons would cause this country to have a low amount? 3. Look at the 5 th and 6 th ranked countries. Are they developed, developing, or one of each? Why do you think that they are where they are in the rankings? Use data to help you answer the question. 4. Look at the 7 th and 8 th ranked countries. Are they developing countries? If so, what do they need to do in order to get to the top half of the rankings? Use data from any information to help you answer the question. 5. Name another country (other than the US) that stands out to you on the chart. Describe the country and what type of impact it has on world consumption.

4 Answers for Physician Density  Germany has the largest column for the highest physician density. I think this occurs because Germany is a stable developed country and I know a lot of wounded soldiers from wars because they have good hospitals.  San Marino has the lowest rank because it has such a low population that it probably doesn’t have a need for a lot of hospitals and doctors. Also it might occur because it is not the most developed country and has jobs for other needs.  Japan and the Bahamas have the 5 th and 6 th ranked columns in the charts. They are a combination of a developed country and a developing country. I think they don’t have a high density because they’re both islands and are scattered and just don’t have the money or space to put in hospitals.  Yemen and Kiribati are both developing counties and hold the 7 th and 8 th ranks. What needs to happen in my opinion is Yemen and the rest of the Middle East need to stop all the riots and crisis’ in those countries and get back to work. Kiribati has a very small population and doesn’t have a lot of things like doctors or high GDPs so, it should grow its population and economy so they can gain better education and hospitals.  I’ve noticed how low San Marino’s density is and it actually didn’t have a number it was NA. That concerns me because even though it’s a small population the GDP is not bad so, it should have some money to build hospitals and gain doctors. It might not just have the high demand for doctors.

6 Answers For Literacy Rates  The U.S., Denmark, France, Japan, Germany, The Bahamas, and San Marino are all tied together holding the biggest rank for literacy rates. I think they all have 99% because most are developed countries and have the money to teach this but, for San Marino and the Bahamas I think they’re able to have high literacy rates because 1.) they have an okay GDP they might be able to teach it and 2.) in places like the Bahamas where tourism is high vendors need to know how to read things like signs, schedules, prices, and handwriting of other people.  Kiribati has the smallest amount because it said NA on the website I used. I think this might be because they don’t have a lot of money and they are a small country with a small population. They might not have the greatest need for it because there internet users and physician densities aren’t high.  5 th and 6 th ranked countries are part of the 99% records and have the same answer for #1  The 7 th and 8 th ranked countries are both developing countries. I think what needs to happen is both of these countries have weak economies since they don’t have much to offer except oil. Since both have such low GDPs they don’t have money for schools in fact sometimes they can’t even get food. Another part I think is in Somalia there are raids from pirates trying to control the lip of Somalia near the water that empties into the ocean. In Yemen there are a lot of issues in that area with government control and leadership.  I’ve noticed that Japan has a 99% literacy rate which caught my attention because even though it is a developed country it has a very large population and can be hard to teach so many people. I think they have to though since a lot of jobs are in Japan.

8 Answers for Oil Consumption  The U.S. has the largest column in the chart. I think this is because we have a large population and we have high car purchases and own or buy lots of oil from wells in the middle east.  San Marino is the lowest oil consumer. I think this might be because they don’t have a big population and they may not have the money or high demand for they may be trying to be more green or don’t have the technology or have different ways of finding energy and other wants or needs.  France and Yemen are the 5 th and 6 th ranked countries. They are both one of each, developing and developed countries. I think France just doesn’t have the high demand for oil since most people live and cities and can just walk or have other transportation. Yemen is in the Middle East and is right near all the oil sources so they probably get it cheaper.  The Bahamas and Somalia are the 7 th and 8 th ranked countries. They are both developing countries. To get higher up in the ranks I think more tourism will help get money and have a higher demand for oil like boating or busses. Also they need to strengthen their economies.  Denmark stood out to me because it has such a high oil demand which I didn’t think they would have, but this affects the world because since they buy so much oil it makes prices go up and other countries can’t get as much oil and don’t function as easily maybe.
