3 Questions 1.What country has the largest column? What are the reasons that you think that this country has the highest amount? – The U.S. has the largest column. The reasons they have the highest amount are because they have a lot of people and they have a lot of money. They also have Detroit which was where cars were first made and cars use a lot of oil for gas. A lot of people also drive cars in the U.S. 2.What country has the smallest/lowest? What reasons would cause this country to have a low amount? – Afghanistan has the smallest column. The reasons they have the lowest amount are because they are a poor country and have a lower population. Everyone there also might not have a car.

4 3.Look at the 5 th and 6 th ranked countries. Are they developed, developing, or one of each? Why do you think that they are where they are in the rankings? Use data to help you answer the question. – The 5 th and 6 th ranked countries are Canada and France. They are both developed. I think they are where they are because France is a smaller country and Canada and France have a smaller population on the population graph. Oil might also be expensive and hard to find there. 4.Look at the 7 th and 8 th ranked countries. Are they developing countries? If so, what do they need to do in order to get to the top half of the rankings? Use data from any information to help you answer the question. – The 7 th and 8 th ranked countries are Haiti and Egypt. They are developing countries. They need to have more jobs so people can have more money to buy cars that use oil for gas. They could also search for oil underground to lower the price of it.

5 5.Name another country (other than the US) that stands out to you on the chart. Describe the country and what type of impact it has on world consumption. – Canada stood out to me. It is a large country and has a lower population. It does not consume much oil. This is probably because not many people live there.
