4. President Lyndon B. Johnson served office (November 22, 1963 – January 20, 1969) as the 36 th president. During Lyndon’s term he stood in the middle of the Vietnam War. During this time he was also facing the weight of the amount of money it was costing to be able to keep the war going. Some of the social issues of the time were some of the people thinking war was unnecessary. During the time of the Vietnam war the American troops were at odds with their President. The troops wanted to advance on while the President wanted to wait till the election was over due to the publics disliking in the war moving forward.
