5 Serving the Children of the World Kiwanis has two official descriptions: Purpose: To improve lives through fellowship in service worldwide. Defining Statement: a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time. What is Kiwanis?

6 Serving the Children of the World Fast facts First club started in 1915: Detroit, Mi. 8,400 Kiwanis clubs in 72 countries Motto is Serving the Children of the World Organization today is headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA What is Kiwanis?

7 Serving the Children of the World What is Kiwanis? Fast Facts Kiwanis clubs distribute more than $107 Million annually. Kiwanis members perform more than 6.2 million service hours each year. More than 150,000 service projects are performed annually by Kiwanis clubs.

9 Serving the Children of the World About Our Club Our club in Rosemead was chartered in 1946 today has both direct members plus many others in several sponsored groups

10 Serving the Children of the World About Our Club Our club makes an impact. Last year, we Directly contributed Assisted fundraising of others With our SLP groups contributed time Benefitted Rosemead youth and residents

11 Serving the Children of the World About Our Club Our regular meetings are normally held: Thursdays 12:10 PM California Mission Inn Chapel Social Hall

12 Serving the Children of the World About Our Club Our satellite meetings are normally held: Second and Fourth Tuesdays 3:30 PM Rosemead Public Library

13 Serving the Children of the World Our Club Committees RKC Committees are divided into three categories: Administrative Service Special

15 Serving the Children of the World Service Leadership Programs Other Kiwanis SLP programs equip adults

16 Serving the Children of the World Kiwanis Foundations The Rosemead Kiwanis Foundation(RKF) a 501(c)(3) organization eligible for charitable donations. officers of the Foundation are identical to those of the Club.

17 Serving the Children of the World Kiwanis Foundations In addition to our local Club foundation Kiwanis has two other 501(c)(3) charitable foundations Kiwanis International Foundation Cal-Nev-Ha District Foundation

18 Serving the Children of the World Our Club’s Activities We are presently involved in many service areas, including:  Reading is Fundamental (RIF) in 12 elementary schools  Annual Rosemead Relay for Life  Rosemead Health Fairs Plus more including …..

19 Serving the Children of the World Our Club’s Activities  Rosemead Public Safety Connections  California Mission Inn Cultural Series  Savannah Cemetery  Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast  Adopt a Family (with People for People Food Bank)

23 Serving the Children of the World Club Administration Club bylaws define our club structure and operation. Our club membership votes on: Election of club officers Amendments to club bylaws

24 Serving the Children of the World Club Administration The Board of Directors  Determines club policies  Approves club projects – including Action Plans of Committees  Sets and approves the club and foundation budgets

25 Serving the Children of the World Club Dues and Fees RKC individual club membership is offered in two formats: $101 for initial basic membership without meals $184 for initial basic membership with 8 meals for first quarter Subsequent quarters will be lower

26 Serving the Children of the World Club Dues and Fees There is also a $500 Corporate annual member- ship. It includes 8 meals per quarter. Allows for participation by a designated but changeable primary member. Allows for designation of additional alternate members

27 Serving the Children of the World Membership Benefits You help change children’s lives – as well as impacting adults You improve the community and the world You build friendships You enhance leadership skills
