17. B ASIC B ELIEFS Like Hindus, Buddhists believe in… Reincarnation: belief that the soul is reborn into another body after death Karma: good and bad deeds done in one’s life. Believed to affect your next life.

18. W HAT DID THE B UDDHA TEACH ? The Four Noble Truths: to give up greed/selfishness and greedy desires 1. To live is to suffer 2. The cause of suffering is selfishness 3. The solution is to eliminate selfishness thus achieving Nirvana 4. The way to Nirvana is through the “Eight-Fold Path”
