PRESIDENTIAL PREFERENCE PRIMARY Every four years. WEIRD Not voting for candidates. Voting for delegates. We are deciding how to instruct delegates to our parties convention.
41
PREFERENCE IS IT AN ELECTION WE ARE JUST STATING A PREFERENCE. YES……………………….WE ARE ELECTING DELEGATES
42
NAMES ON THE BALLOT Do they file – pay filing fee ? First Tuesday in February in Presidential Election years the chair of each political party submits to the SBOE a list of candidates. SBOE.. Then takes the list and nominates. NOMINATES ??? There is a petition procedure for supporters of other candidates ( 10,000 signatures).
43
DELEGATES (Who you are really voting for) The parties divide the delegates according to the results. Delegates are bound (at least by moral obligation) to vote as directed on the 1 st ballot. If split ( no majority) then delegates are free to vote for any candidate they want.

REASON NOT TO HOLD IT IN FEBRUARY Take spotlight off N.C. Wannabees... Will not come to our state. Will not eat our bq Will not kiss our babies Will not spend millions in N.C. fighting each other
48
REASON TO HOLD IT IN MARCH The opinions of this presentation do not reflect the opinions of the Political Parties, SBOE, NC Legislature, or NCADE. These are only the expressed opinions of Jane Ann Hodges. Keep all 72 Delegates.
