Focusing Questions: –How do you find information on your topic? –How do you know if you can trust the information on a website? Strategy: To identify information sources by searching the Internet guided by evaluation questions.

Types of evidence include: Facts and statistics Personal stories Quotations from everyday people who live the experience, or experts Look for “reliable” or trustworthy websites: More reliable:.edu,.gov,.k12 Less reliable:.com and other commercial sites Good searching techniques: Use quotation marks Quickly scan the search results to find sites with appropriate information

Record search terms and web addresses 2.Scan the website/article to determine if the source is trustworthy. Complete the Evaluate Sources section of the Feature Article Evidence Planner (Handout 2.1a). 3.Return to the search engine to find more websites. Find three or four appropriate websites for your article. 4.If possible, post the URLs in the Online Classroom.
