8  Worker can’t be fired for reporting an injury.  They must report injury.  Everyone must cooperate with worker’s return to work.

9  Contact worker.  Communicate with worker.  Give worker a job.  Give information to Commission.  Or else… be fined

14  All injured workers are required to fill out a Form 6.  Form 6: Worker’s Report of Injury

15  This person is a worker not connected with the management of a workplace who is designated to monitor the health, safety and welfare of the workers employed at the workplace.  A worker representative is required in each workplace where there is more than 1 but less than 10 workers employed.

16  Employers have a legal responsibility to ensure a WH&S rep. is established.  Employers are then responsible for informing other workers of the WH&S rep., and encouraging cooperation and responding within 30 days of the WH&S recommendations.

17  The employer is required to provide and pay for OH&S certification training for WH&S reps.

18  The WH&S rep is elected by other workers at the workplace

19  Confirm the function, purpose and scope of the WH&S rep.  Ensure the frequency of meetings with the employer to discuss health and safety issues.  Outline the specific responsibilities of management and the WH&S rep. Regarding OH&S in the workplace.

20  Minutes of meeting with the employer must be kept.  Records of recommendations.  Copies of documents, such as, inspection reports and hazard assessment reports.  Responses made by the employer to recommendations made by the WH&S rep.

21  Promote workplace health and safety.  Educate employers, workers, and others.  Provide services to OH & S committees/WHS representatives/designates.  Develop certification standards.  Develop training programs.  Make recommendations to Department of Government Services (OH & S branch)

22  Injury statistics.  Number of employees.  Presence of WH & S representatives/designates.  Existence of Health and Safety policy.  Workplace health and safety activities.

23  A direct link between workers compensation costs and OH &S/Return to work practices.  A financial reward for effective prevention practice, return-to-work practices and reduced claim costs.  Allows majority of employees in province to participate in experiencing rating model.

24  Rewards employers based on individual performance, not industry performance.  A two-part process: 1. Education in assessment for meeting OH & S and ESRTW criteria 2. Ability to reduce assessments by the use of an annual expected target for claiming costs.
