Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity 1 SMOS IOCP Key-Point 0 09/12/09 Preliminary Satellite in flight status

2 SMOS IOCP Key-Point 0 09/12/09 Satellite activities Satellite main activities performed since separation –First acquisition in stowed configuration –Deployment of the PLM and 2nd SHM in deployed configuration –NOM/NOM acquisition –Gyro and thrusters calibration –OCM in plane and out of plane –Switch on of redundant equipment ( GYRO3, STR2) –inertial and zenith ECM

3 SMOS IOCP Key-Point 0 09/12/09 Preliminary Functional chain status Elctrical –Power consumption as expected including PLM (actual comparison to be performed on 21/12 for PLM heater ( worst case of eclipse)) –Eclipse and shadowing as expected –Battery management OK ; optimisation of internal resistance to be evaluated and tested before end of the year Thermal –PF CTA behaves as expected and temperature are well controlled –Coupling between S/A and PLM arms under analysis >In SHM configuration high temperature noticed on S/A due to probable specular reflexion on PLM arms >In NOM configuration, low impact for all the SADM position >Modelisation on going in TAS

4 SMOS IOCP Key-Point 0 09/12/09 Preliminary Functional chain status AOCS –Nominal behaviour –Equipment status : nominal including redundant equipment Command/ control –Nominal –Use of memory read between two addresses to recover TM R/F –Occultation of S-Band signal by PLM as expected

5 SMOS IOCP Key-Point 0 09/12/09 Satellite Ground monitoring On ground monitoring –Update of the SMOS ground monitoring – very few modifications >Yellow and red alarms threshold for PLM temperature, current, SL consumption –Update of the documentation on expected alarms New SDB to be released by end of CW50 Monthly report –Number of cycling of IHTSN/IHTSR added

6 SMOS IOCP Key-Point 0 09/12/09 Conclusion The satellite behaves as expected, no anomaly noticed so far Complete presentation of in flight assessment on 14 January in Thales premises
