 Motivation › Prior research lacked a suitable integrated framework that would enable the analysis of relationships among economic actors embedded in a e-Supply Network  Goal › Provide such a framework for categorizing and analyzing the relationships within an e- supply network, specifically those connected through the internets 2

 E-SN as “a set of inter-connected SCs, embedding the flow of goods and services from original sources to end customers”.  Assumptions were made based on the interdependencies among influencing variables based on dependence parameters. 3

Organizational structures Managerial criteria Key activities 4

 First Method: dependence parameters analysis › Strong correlations between:  presence and the possible role of the leading company, with respect to the decision-making process  This leads to integration of the first dimension  the type of relationships established among various actors.  This leads to integration of the second dimension  Second Method: flow based analysis › Only for organizational structures and managerial criteria  Material elements  Goods and/or parts  Immaterial  Money, know how, patents 5

 Based on this two new macro-variables were identified: › the decision-making concentration degree (Figure 4) › internal integration degree (Figure 5) Figure 4 Figure 5 6

 Each quadrants represents the combination of: organizational structure, managerial criteria and critical activities more consistent with the specific business environment. 7

Levels of critics Goal and Motivation Context and Method 1 st Method of Integration 2 nd Method of Integration Validation Information 8

 Is this principally needed to integrate different frameworks?  Are there any need for one “Integrated” framework to reflect different approaches and perspectives?  In general, is the goal really understood?! 9

Organization Perspective Management Perspective Product/Market Perspective 10

› The authors try to find some correlations between variables of each framework › They have shown some dependent variables, but this does not prove anything › Because, there may be many other variables which are not correlated or even have reverse correlation 11

 Unreasonable assumptions like: › Assumption:  High number of business partners leads to centralized management and decision authority › But In reality:  High number of partners in a network has motivated decentralized and dynamic decision making mechanisms 12

 The flow based analysis is applied only on the first and second frameworks. › The third one is not included  Having the same flow of material and information does not necessarily imply the same style of management and complexity level 13

 Authors have tried to validate the framework by mapping it on different cases in real world  The problem is that there has been serious lacks in their information about some variables of the framework 14
