2 Roundtable on Entrepreneurship Education - Program Highlights - Business Plan (and other) courses for Sci and Tech U.Grads (450 course places) Lectureships to develop and deliver graduate “Enterprise” courses Scholarships for “Enterprise Extensions” to PhD students (6 scholarships p.a.) Fund the creation of a wide range of teaching materials Support UCL wide “Entrepreneurs’ Club” activities (350 on e-challenge) What we do at UCL

3 Roundtable on Entrepreneurship Education - Program Highlights - Fund the development of “New Technology Ventures” course (40 course places) Technology case studies commissioned for many MBA electives Support the 8 week “Entrepreneurship Summer School” (25 course places) Supply “technology opportunities” for business plans, projects, etc Support Entrepreneurial Internships programme What we do at London Business School

4 Roundtable on Entrepreneurship Education - Program Highlights - Link academics to share course development, delivery and ideas Sponsor technology-focused clubs, symposia, etc Encourage UCL scientists to take LBS MBA elective courses and vice versa Informal events integrating LBS and UCL PhD  Build teams combining skills and ideas to commercialise innovation via: Taught courses Project / thesis Networking Benefits and Outputs Enriching the ‘Teaching’ Environment Helping to identify commercial application of R & D Encouraging change of culture Integration between UCL/LBS

5 Roundtable on Entrepreneurship Education - Program Highlights - CTES Programme 9 month long, full time scholarship programme carrying no academic qualification In 2003/04 the programme had 52 students (none from Europe) –Most post-doctoral technologists –based in 36 departments in 14 different UK universities training delivered by London Business School, Imperial and Cambridge and generated 10 spinouts which captured >$35Million funding 12 small companies developed new product lines / services or license deals Ford Motor Corporation saving >$800k annually in its R&D division In 2004/05 the programme will operate with 94 students in 18 different universities

6 Roundtable on Entrepreneurship Education - Program Highlights - Further integration between LBS and UCL Appointment of Tom Byers as Visiting Professor at LBS – linked into developing activities at UCL Establishment of twin technology innovation centres at LBS and UCL, including the appointment of two new Chairs Increasing opportunities for LBS MBA students to participate in UCL technology Masters’ courses Co-development of electives between LBS and science & engineering departments at UCL … leading to joint degrees ??
