2 Provider Kindergarten Readiness Rates History: The Florida Department of Education/State Board of Education is required by law (F.S. 1002.69(5)- (6)) to annually calculate a kindergarten provider readiness rate for EACH private or public school VPK provider for either the School-Year (540 hr.) or the Summer (300hr.) program.

3 How it works The VPK Provider Kindergarten Readiness Rate measures how well a provider prepares 4 year olds for kindergarten based on the Florida VPK Education Standards. The Readiness Rate is based on the results of the statewide kindergarten screening (FLKRS) for children completing the VPK program. 4 FLKRS Florida Kindergarten Readiness Screener FLKRS is composed of two instruments: 1. A subset of the Early Childhood Observation System (ECHOS) 2. Two measurements of the Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS)

5 Steps to achieving a Kindergarten Readiness Rate 1.Become a certified VPK Provider 2.Teach the child based on the VPK Standards using your certified curriculum 3.Measure the effectiveness of what was taught to the child (FLKRS screening) 4.Verify the information is correct on the Kindergarten Readiness Rate Website

7 Getting Started… 1.Letters will go out from the Department of Education detailing instructions on how to access the Kindergarten Readiness Rate website and your username and password information. 2.Access the website: https://vpk.fldoe.org 3.Log in using your username and password 4.Compare information in the Kindergarten Readiness Rate website to your records for accuracy 5.Submit any changes you make 6.Contact the Early Learning Coalition with any questions

8 Step 1: Log in at https://vpk.fldoe.org. Use the four digit number on your letter as your username.https://vpk.fldoe.org *If you are a new VPK provider this year, your password will be: ready2008 Input User Name and Password * If you are a new VPK Provider this year then your password will be: ready2008

9 Step 2: Click on ‘VPK Provider Verification of Children Served’ Select the VPK Provider Verification of Children Served

10 STATUS When you sign on - will be NOT STARTED. Will change to SAVED as you save your changes. Will change to SUBMITTED when you complete your review. Click on VPK Provider Verification of Children Served 10 Step 3:Click on VPK Provider Verification of Children Served

11 Click - the button to accept the security agreement “Yes, I agree.” 11 Step 4: Click ‘Yes, I agree” to accept the security agreement

12 Enter the information to identify yourself. Select the Next button to continue. 12 Step 5: Enter information requested

13 Note the Progress Bar - Step 1 of the verification (25% complete). Enter the information requested. 13

14 OPTIONAL FEATURES You can assign children to a specific classroom (A, B, C…). You can choose from the drop- down menu if you have information regarding the whereabouts of your VPK graduates. 15

15 Total Hours Enrolled = Paid and unpaid absences Total Hours Absent = Paid and unpaid absences Total Hours Attended = Total hours child was in class % Completion - Automatically Calculated Meeting Substantial Completion (70%) - Yes or No will appear 16

16 When you complete your review and changes, select Submit. 17 Step 6: Submit your changes if you have any. If you made no changes still submit your information

19 What’s next? After you are finished confirming your VPK information, the Coalition will review the changes made to ensure our records are accurate. The Coalition will ‘Accept’ or ‘Decline’ the change you made based on our records If we decline your change we will notify you to discuss options Once the Coalition review is complete the Department of Education will also ‘Accept’ or ‘Decline’ the submitted changes

20 Each coalition reviews and either “Accepts” or “Declines” the changes submitted. 23

22 When will I get my Readiness Rates? Preliminary Rates Released: January – February 2008 Providers will have 14 days to dispute their rates (ELCMC will keep providers updated) State Board will adopt the minimum Readiness Rate: February 19, 2008 (Tentative) Final rates released in late February (Tentative)
