At school we have been doing a study about rubbish some of the year sixes took around a rubbish and a recycling bag to each grade to see what grade has the most rubbish and recycling here is a list of most to least recycling of each grade! prep:100grams Year 1’s: 80grams Year 2’s:50grams Year 3’s:20grams Year 5/6’s:20grams

This is the rubbish before Pie graph and in this graph everybody had rubbish and here is a list of rubbish from each grade from highest to lowest! Year 2’s:200grams Year 4/5’s: 180grams Year 3’s:160grams Year 5/6’s:110grams Year 1”s:100grams Preps:100grams

This bar graph compares the rubbish and recycling for the before rubbish! As you can see the grades have not yet reduced there rubbish and recycled things because this is only the first day! Our goal is to reduce over 10 grams each class!

In this picture and the one before it shows that the year 2 have the most recycling for the after pie graph and here is a list from most recycling to least recycling. Year 2`s:50grams Year 4/5 and 5/6`s:30grams Year 1`s:10grams

This picture shows that every one had rubbish in the after graph all together the school has reduced there rubbish by 450grams here is a list of what grade reduced there rubbish by the most to the least. Year 2`s:by 150grams Year 3`s:by 140grams Year 5/6`s:by 90grams Year 4/5`s:by 50grams Year 1`s:by 20grams

In this graph it shows the transformation of rubbish and recycling and each grade has reduced over 10 grams except the preps who did not reduce anything! The grade 3’s won the competition with a reduced amount of 87.5% and that is a lot!

We think that it was successful because nearly every grade reduced their rubbish by an acceptable amount of rubbish and hopefully without the competition we can keep reducing and stick to our nude food! It was successful because we all contributed and got a good score on reducing! We think the grade 4/5’s need to bring not as much rubbish and maybe a bit more recycling better yet hardly anything at all! The preps didn’t reduce but that was ok because they new what they were doing and they did pretty well! Most grades have been working with Mrs.Gargan to learn the 3 R’s in rubbish! Reduce Reuse Recycle And she has done a great cause the preps whenever they finish food they will look for a recycling sign and or if it doesn’t have it they shout it out!

Shaye’s reflection I thought that it was really fun doing all the rubbish reducing and making the pie graphs and being able to see the changes in what we have reduced! My favourite part was working with Jazzi because it was exciting and I don’t usually work with Jazzi! I personally thought our grade did really well reducing the rubbish considering we didn’t have much from the start! We worked well together because we listen to each others ideas and it was a great activity and I hope we will be able to do it again soon! Jazzi’s reflection I thought that it was a great experience what people were bringing to school and how they fixed it! I hope that next time we do it the preps will reduce their rubbish even if it is a little amount! My favourite part was working with Shaye and learning about percentage and making the pie graphs and bar graphs! We worked well together well because we change around ideas to suit each other so we get it done quicker! We agreed on everything we did and we got it done really well and were proud!
