Many rituals and feast days point to spiritual reality Hebrews 8-10, Colossians 2:16-17 Many prophecies Matthew 5:17, Luke 24:44 The Psalms contain prophecies about Jesus The poetical books also express man’s need for a right relationship with God (Jesus fulfills this need) This includes the book of Job

3 Job’s Spiritual Needs Expressed Job has no fear of death because he was faithful 6:8-10 He feels helpless and hopeless concerning physical life 6:11-13 Hebrews 2:14-18 Jesus died and arose to take away the fear of death Be afraid of facing God when dying in his sin Jesus is also the one who helps us v.16,18 Philippians 4:13

It grieves Him and angers Him Mark 3:5 God suffers long with us Luke 18:8, Romans 3:24-26 Jesus makes it possible for us to be forgiven Without Him God cannot pardon our iniquity

7 Job’s Spiritual Needs Expressed Since I am already guilty, why should I struggle in vain? 9:29 The devil would love for us to give up! Satan wants us to be guilty before God Jesus provides forgiveness Hebrews 5:8-9 His resurrection provides hope and purpose 1 Corinthians 15:58

10 Job’s Spiritual Needs Expressed “If a man dies, will he live again?” 14:13-14 Life makes no sense if there is nothing after this life We know there is a resurrection of the dead John 11:25 Jesus is the resurrection and the life 1 Peter 1:3 through His resurrection we are begotten unto a living hope 1 Corinthians 15:20 Christ is the firstfruits; we will follow him

11 Job’s Spiritual Needs Expressed “Surely then you will count my steps but not keep track of my sin. My offenses will be sealed up in a bag; you will cover over my sin.” 14:16-17 Job does acknowledge that he does sin He acknowledges God’s omniscience He is confident in God’s mercy Psalm 32, Romans 4:6-8,3,12 Forgiveness is through the blood of Christ Ephesians 1:7, Heb. 10:22, Colossians 2:12-13
