5. At West Hill This has meant a year of preparation in school. All teachers have attended new training for the New National Curriculum. The topics taught in each year group have been changed where necessary to meet the requirements of the New National Curriculum. New maths and english schemes of work have been purchased to support children in school. These schemes have homework links which when set up will enable children to access online homework set by the class teacher.

6. What can I do to support my child? Over the summer holidays visit the library and find out about their September topic. Go into London and access the museums. Or just a walk along the river talking about the things you see. Encourage your child to talk clearly using standard English. Help your child to use appropriate language for different audiences. Read with your child. Find out what books they enjoy and read together. Read to your child, modelling how to read with expression. Times tables. Telling the time. Cutting, sticking, colouring to develop fine motor skills. Climbing, running, jumping, swimming to develop gross motor skills. Being active and sleeping.
