2 Displacement when an object is submerged in water, it displaces (pushes away) a volume of water equal to the volume of the object. We can use this to find the volume of irregular shaped objects 1 mL of water = 1 cm3

3 To find volume using Displacement…
Fill graduated cylinder with water (enough to submerge object, not enough to overflow). Record initial water level. Submerge object in water. Record final water level.

4 To find volume using Displacement…
Subtract the initial measurement from the final measurement change unit from mL to cm3 Difference between the two measurements IS the volume of the object!
