4 The Bear River is a river, approximately 491 miles (790 km) long, in southwestern Wyoming, southeastern Idaho, and northern Utah, in the United States. The largest tributary of the Great Salt Lake, it drains a mountainous area and farming valleys northeast of the lake and southeast of the Snake River Plain. It is also the largest river in North America that does not ultimately reach the sea.
