What is SSNR? SSNR Samsung Super Noise Reduction is a state-of – the-art technology exclusively developed by Samsung Techwin for all their camera and dome products.
What is SSNR? Samsung Techwin’s superior technology enables the camera to provide a virtual identical image to what the camera actually sees. This is achieved by reducing both random and fixed noise in conditions of low illumination.
Why is SSNR needed? One of the main reasons for having a CCTV system is to have the ability to record and review images. – In doing so there is little point if these images are poor and unusable. – Samsung Techwin’s SSNR technology substantially improves the image quality; producing sharper, cleaner and more effective pictures.
Why is SSNR needed? Modern CCTV systems, record their video images onto Digital Video Recorders, the amount of space taken up by an image is largely dependant on the quality of the image being recorded. – If the image quality is poor due to unnecessary noise or movement the image recording duration is vastly reduced. – In reducing the record duration extra expense is required to maintain the duration or compromises are needed in image refresh rates or quality. – Samsung Techwin’s SSNR technology cleans up the image and makes any compromise wholly unnecessary.
How does SSNR Work? Samsung Techwin’s DSP included an “Adaptive Temporal Infinite Impulse Response Filter”, by first passing the image through this filter and a “Frame Buffer”. 3D DNR Frame Buffer In Out
How does SSNR Work? 3D DNR Frame Buffer In Out The chip compares and restores as close as possible to the original signal by monitoring the relationship between images that are continuously landing on the pixels.
SSNRII followed in 2007 The SSNRII version greatly reduced the smearing effect often seen on moving images at night and improved the sharpness of edges on static images. To achieve this, Samsung’s engineers developed the “Motion Edge Adaptive 2D filter ”. 2D DNR 3D DNR Frame Buffer In Out
SSNRII’s Motion Edge Adaptive 2D filter Motion Edge Adaptive 2D filter uses a 7 x 9 matrix of pixels (63) around the pixel that has had the noise removed to restore its image as closely as possible to the original. 752 582 7 7 9 9
New for 2009 SSNRIII SSNRIII uses “Pattern Matching” technology. This simultaneously reduces noise and maintains the objects edges in both static and moving images. This is achieved by matching the closest 3 x 3 pixels matrix with the original pattern. 2D DNR (P/M) 3D DNR Frame Buffer In Out
SSNRIII In SSNRII Samsung Techwin used a 7 x 9 matrix of pixels to help replicated the original affected pixel. 752 582 7 7 9 9 3 3 3 3 While SSNRIII uses a much smaller 3 x 3 matrix of pixels to reproduce a much closer match and in doing so improve the edges on both static and moving objects in the scene.
