4 Retirement Medical Benefits UM System leaders recommend that the university: 1.Continue to offer insurance coverage to current retirees. All current retirees who are enrolled in the university’s insurance plan(s) will retain their insurance—including medical, dental, life, and vision insurance. 2.Continue the premium subsidy for retirees currently participating in the UM plans as well as their covered spouses and dependents. 3.Explore market alternatives to the university’s existing retiree insurance program that lower costs for both the retiree and the university. Initial research indicates some coverage options meet or exceed the quality of the university’s current benefits, and may reduce premiums. 4.Have any new alternatives in place by January 1, 2017.

5 Retirement Medical Benefits The recommendations for current faculty and staff? 1.Discussion is still being held regarding future retiree insurance benefits for employees. These discussions do not include the insurance plans offered while faculty and staff are actively employed by the University of Missouri System or employee retirement plans, which are secure and well-funded. 2.No immediate action is needed by employees. The date of any change would be provided to faculty and staff more than a year in advance; each individual will have ample time and resources to research how the changes affect him or her personally. The university will provide information and assistance to help make fully informed decisions.

6  Promotion and tenure process will be electronic this year
