Thank you for coming to Samsbiblestories.com and for taking a look at the lessons I have added. These lessons are the result of years of teaching Sunday school at an Elementary level. God has richly blessed me in being able to share His Word with thousands of young people. It is now my privilege to share them with you. Please feel free to use them with your class, wherever God has planted you. The only think I ask is that you drop me a line and let me know who you are and how the lessons are working for you. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated. samueldselby@gmail God Bless you, Sam God Bless

Bible Story-time The Old Man and the Sea (Moses and the Red Sea) Exodus 14

1 Moses character 1 Pharaoh character The Egyptian army Children of Israel Pillar of Fire (to lead by night) Pillar of Cloud (to lead by day)

Two weeks ago, we had a story about a man who had 12 sons and one of those sons was his favorite. Who can remember the favorite sons name? Let’s get up to date on our story. What happened between Joseph and his brothers that made them hate their younger brother???

The Story of Joseph and his Family and how they ended up In Egypt. Because God loved Jacob and his family, they eventually ended up in Egypt and were very respected and became wealthy. But eventually, people forgot about Joseph and began to hate these Jews (as they were called) because of their money and power. Finally, a new Pharaoh took the throne by the name of Thutmose III who wanted to build grand cities in honor of himself, but labor was expensive and so he enslaved the entire Jewish population and forced them to build his cities.

Thutmose III And who remembers what happened last week, with a man named Moses? And eventually… he did let them go. And that is where we take up our story this morning. Moses and all of the Jewish people are heading out of Egypt towards the land that God has promised them…

The Exodus Moses and his followers don’t really know where they are going, but God gives them help in the form of a great pillar of Cloud that leads them in the day-time and a pillar of fire that leads them at night.

So Moses and his people are finally free to leave this land that has been their home for over 400 years. And when they leave, they take great riches with them and most importantly, they leave as the work-force that has built the great city of the Kings. And then, the great Pharaoh has a change of mind… again

So Pharaoh decides to go after Moses and his people and bring them back to Egypt

10 As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up, and there were the Egyptians, marching after them. They were terrified and cried out to the L ORD. 11 They said to Moses, “Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die? What have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt? 12 Didn’t we say to you in Egypt, ‘Leave us alone; let us serve the Egyptians’? It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!” 13 Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the L ORD will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. 14 The L ORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Exodus 14
