DELIVERANCE NEW A A SESSION 6

The idea of deliverance originates in the mind of our divine God. We see this in the beginning of the creation. When Adam and Eve were lost and did not know how to help themselves God came in to deliver them.

But the Lord called out to the man, “Where are you?” Gen 3:9 “The eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings,” Gen 3:7

God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their way. So God said to Noah, “ I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth has filled with violence because of them. I am going to destroy them. So make yourself an ark of cypress wood..” Gen 6:11-15

10 The Lord said, “ I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt, I have heard them crying out because of the slave drivers and I am concerned about their suffering… So now go I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt. Ex 3:7, 10

So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the Lord commanded. Aaron threw his staff right in front of Pharaoh and his officials, and it became a snake. Ex 7:10 Pharaoh then summoned wise men and sorcerers, and Egyptian magicians also did the same things by their arts: Each one threw down his staff and it became a snake. But Aaron’s staff swallowed up their staffs. Yet pharaoh’s heart was hardened. Ex 7: 11- 13

The Lord the God of the Hebrews has sent me to say to you: “Let my people go, so that they may worship me in the desert.” Ex 7:16 Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, “go sacrifice to your God here in the Land. Ex 8:25

That would not be right. The sacrifices we offer the Lord our God would be detestable to the Egyptians. We must take a three day journey into the desert to offer sacrifices to Lord our God as he commanded us. Ex 8:25-26 Pharaoh said, “I will let you go to offer sacrifices to the Lord your God in the desert but you must not go very far,” Ex 8:27-28

Then Moses and Aaron went back to Pharaoh. “Go worship the Lord your God, he said. “But just who will be going?” Ex 10:8 Moses answered, “We will go with our young and old, with our sons and daughters, and with our flocks and herds, because we are to celebrate a festival to the Lord.” Ex 10:9

Pharaoh said, “ The Lord be with you if I let you go, along with your women and children! Clearly you are bent on evil. No! Have only the men go and worship the Lord, since that’s what you’ve been asking for. Ex 10:10-11 Then Moses & Aaron appeared again.. Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and said, “Go, worship the Lord. Even your women and children can go with you; only leave your flocks and herds behind.” Ex 10:24

17

But Moses said you must allow us to have sacrifice and burnt offerings to present to the Lord our God. Our livestock too must go with us; not a hoof must be left behind. We have to use some of them to worship the Lord our God, and until we get there, we will not know what we will use to worship God. Ex 10:24-26 Then Pharaoh got up and said to Moses, “get out of my sight, Make sure you don’t appear before me again! The day you see my face you will die.” Ex 10:28

At midnight the Lord struck down all the first born in Egypt, from the first born of Pharaoh who sat on the throne to the prisoner, who was in the dungeon, and the firstborn of all live stock as well. Pharaoh and all his officials and all the Egyptians got up during the night and there was loud wailing in Egypt for there was not a house who was without someone death. Ex 12:29-30 During the night Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, “Up! Leave my people, you and the Israelites! Go, “worship the Lord as you have requested. Take your flocks and herds as you have said and go.” Ex 12:31-32

When the king of Egypt was told that the people had fled, Pharaoh and his officials changed their minds about them and said, “What have we done? We have let the Israelites go and have lost their services!” Ex 14:5 So he had his chariot made ready and took his army with him. He took six hundred of the best chariots, along with all other chariots of Egypt, with officers over all of them. Pharaoh the king of Egypt pursued the Israelites, who were marching out boldly. Ex 14: 6-8

As Pharaoh approached the Israelites looked up, and there were the Egyptians, marching after them. They were terrified and cried out to the Lord. They said to Moses, Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us out to die in the desert? What have you done by bring us out of Egypt? Ex 14:10-11 Didn’t we say to you leave us alone in Egypt; let us serve the Egyptians? It would be better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert. Ex 14:12

Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring to you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see them again. Ex 14:13 Then the Lord said to Moses, “why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on. Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through on dry ground.” Ex 14:15-16

The Egyptians pursued them, and all Pharaoh’s horses and chariots and horsemen followed them into the sea. During the last watch of the night the Lord looked down from the pillar of fire and cloud at the Egyptian army and threw into confusion. Ex 14: 23-24. He made the wheels of their chariots come off so that they had difficulty driving. And the Egyptians said, Lets get out from the Israelites! He Lord is fighting for them against Egypt. Ex 14:25

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea so that the waters may flow back.. Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and at the daybreak the sea went back to its place. The Egyptians were fleeing toward it and the Lord swept them in to the sea. The water flowed back and covered the chariots & horsemen-the entire army of Pharaoh that had followed the Israelites into the sea. Not one of them escaped. Ex 14:26-28

I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the Gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who had began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Jesus Christ. Phil 1:4-6
