1 USDA Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Program (FFVP) Training Child and Adult Nutrition Services-DOE May 5, 2011

2 Objectives

3 23,000 elementary children in South Dakota will benefit from the program in 2011-2012 Schools will receive approximately $74.00 per student

4 Allocation of Funds… $50-$75 per student Majority of funds to be spent on fresh fruits and fresh vegetables 10% of money can be used for administering the program— Reasonable amounts can be spent on operating costs

5 Funding $$ One pot of money for August and September Allocation letter will be sent to the Authorized Rep in late July-early Aug. Addendum included—sign and return to CANS office no grant money is paid out until this is on file

6 Funding $$ New pot of money for October through May Allocation letter will be sent to the Authorized Rep in mid October

7 Budgeting FFVP Handbook Pg. 8 The school needs to be fiscally responsible for managing this grant!! Establish a monthly budget to assist you in tracking funds and ensure timely expenditures of program funds Weekly amount Not spending the money is a disservice to your students Excel spreadsheet tool

15 Claim Submission Deadline Claims due by: 10 th of the month following the month covered by the claim Example: September’s claim is due October 10 th The August/September claim is the only claim that can be combined. Send original to Cody Stoeser.
