Watch CATCH Video CATCH: From Research to Practice The CATCH Program will be featured in the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) sponsored Public Health Webinar series “Grand Rounds” on June 15th from 2-3pm EST. Overview CDC is changing to meet the challenges of public health in the 21st century. To address the shifting landscape of public health, the CDC is concentrating on improving the health of individuals through a holistic approach instead of focusing on specific diseases. CDC is using a “life stage approach” to focus its efforts on achieving the highest health status for people in the United States. People have different health needs and perceptions as they progress through life. CATCH Newsletter

29 Because CATCH Works! Why CATCH? CATCH has repeatedly demonstrated that the health environments of schools can be changed. CATCH has demonstrated it positively changes children’s health behaviors,

30 Because CATCH Works! Why CATCH? CATCH 6 th – 8 th demonstrated an increase in vigorous physical activity levels and activity time after school and on the weekend. CATCH 6 th – 8 th has shown a decrease in TV watching and sedentary activities. CATCH 6 th – 8 th (HEADS UP) has shown improvements in standardized test scores. CATCH 6 th – 8 th (IMPACT)demonstrated effects in increasing bone density (e.g., stiffness index).
