3 Spatial Data Infrastructure Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a ‘ new ’ technology to collect, digitize, analyze, and share spatial data. 4 The NGIS Project In 1994, Taiwan launched her National GIS project and established a task force to implement the project. The task force is co-chaired by deputy-ministers of the Ministry of Interior (MOI) and Council of Economic Planning and Development (CEPD). Members are from related ministries and local governments. 15 Conclusions GIS has been applied to government administration affairs, engineering, natural and social sciences, and public health.
