2. What is Fundations/Just Words? Research-based reading and writing program Explicit, cumulative and multisensory instruction Emphasizes phonemic awareness, phonics- word study, high frequency word study, fluency, vocabulary, handwriting and spelling

Spelling Tests There is no “list” for spelling in Fundations or Just Words Tests are given at the end of each unit (1-3 weeks) Students are taught WHY the word is spelled that way and WHY English works the way it does Use the Unit Resource lists to practice the concept versus memorizing words Learning concepts builds deeper understanding that will be generalized to bigger, longer words
