The AMCAS Primary Takes a LONG time Start AS SOON AS IT IS RELEASED (~May 1 st ) Submission: May – mid July: early (Great) mid July – mid August: normal (Peak time for submissions, verification takes 6 weeks. OK, but not great) mid August – deadline: LATE (Unless you are a stellar applicant and submit your secondaries the day you receive them, you might be applying for waitlist spots) Don’t forget it how long it takes to verify!!!

Secondaries Some come as soon as your AMCAS is verified Some come over a month later Some schools screen with MCAT and GPA, some don’t Some are TIME SENSITIVE: for example, you have two weeks from the day they email you the secondary to complete itTIME SENSITIVE Finish these QUICKLY $50 - $150 per school

Cost estimate MCAT plus practice tests from AAMC website: ~$500 Applying to 20 schools: $780 Secondaries for half of them: ~$900 Travelling to interview: ??? $100, $1000, $2000, it depends how many places you go TOTAL (very rough estimate): $2000 - $4000

Final Thought Time is of the essence, so it is crucial to submit your AMCAS and secondary applications as quickly as possible. However, be sure to thoroughly review, revise, and rethink EVERYTHING you write. It would be a shame to have your application thrown away because of a typo (this happens, according to admission committee faculty members)
