USPS Customer Inconvenience  Confusing experience for our customers at retail  Customers choose from at least 10 different forms  Minimal content embedded in these bar codes  Customers who purchase more than one service are required to “rewrite” information for the same mail piece.

5 5 Where Do We Want to Be?  One intelligent bar code on every package  End to end visibility on every package  Bar codes that tell us more about the package and shipper for systems like EVS  Intelligence from bar codes is used to manage and grow our business

6 6 How Do We Get There Intelligent Bar Code On Every Package  Standardize bar codes for domestic and international  Enable UCC/EAN 128 Bar Code Symbology on all packages. −Provide unique identity and sortation  Update systems to collect, pass, and analyze information collected from the bar code
