3 3 High Level Goals What do you want to accomplish for your country? Look at long term goals (3-5 years) and short term (1- 2 years) Long term goals –Keep the momentum of current support system, including Govt, judges, mentors, high schools, etc –Promote the award ISEF projects –Encourage the award students to expand their research results –Enhance project-based learning in science education system Short term goals –Update impact survey of science fair participants –Introduce thinking tools to science teachers –Promote science boot camps to grade 3-12 students

4 4 Objectives How will you know you succeeded? –Please list the results you want to see –Student participation in affiliated fairs increases 20% over a three-year period –Volunteers/mentors increases 15% during the 2009- 2010 school year –Publish and distribute 5,000 copies of journals and CDs of award projects to all high schools –More than 10% of award projects expand applications –Systemic curriculum changes underway; 200 teachers trained in Project Based Learning –Refresh and update Taiwan ISEF finalists –Teachers apply thinking tools in their classroom –Conduct 300 hands-on science boot camps to reach out 5000 students
