4 4 Terra has sufficient propellant to maintain Mean Local Time (MLT) of 10:30am +/- 1 minute through 2017 Terra can continue to operate through Summer of 2019 by allowing MLT to drift towards minimum MLT requirement of 10:15 am (established prior to launch) Terra Predicted Propellant Usage based on Nominal Solar Flux

10 10 DateIncidentCauseResponse/Impact 6/15/2001MODIS Power Supply 2 failed Suspect a High Energy Particle was the cause of the thermal runaway condition damaging the Field Effect Transistors (FET) Switched to Redundant Power Supply. Redundant Power Supply has been nominal. 9/10/2002MODIS Formatter Side A Timing Errors corrupting Science (Degraded Performance) Formatter A has had a history of problems which resulted in processing errors. The likely cause of the Formatter Timing Errors is an incorrectly terminated clock signal. Fixed on Aqua. 9/10/02 MODIS Science data was affected. MODIS Formatter Swap to Side B was performed on 9/17/02. Since the switch, no Formatter Errors have been detected and the data quality is excellent. 5/29/2008Direct Access System Modulator prevented X-Band Electrical Power Conditioner (EPC) Side failed. Cause Unknown Switched to redundant side to restore X-Band capability. X-Band has been nominal since recovery. 10/13/2009Hex Bay Battery Assembly (BBAT) heater control failed on 4 of 9 heater groups and Cell #50 of 54 failed Suspect impact from Micro-Meteoriod or Orbital Debris (MMOD) Science is unaffected by anomaly. Modified battery management to account for loss of one cell, increased charge/discharge ratio and increased remaining five heater group temperature setpoints to keep cell temperatures above freezing. Note: Power Module Battery continues to operate nominally. Terra Anomaly* History * -- Significant anomalies
