2 Approach to the Commuting Model -Verify population change in 2008-2009 is on previous track/trend -Update Student/Faculty/Staff population per zip code data Parking Permit/zip code info for 08-09 -Add long distance commuting to the model “Driving home for the holiday” -Coordinate PMT with air travel model -Air (PMT) + Ground (PMT) = total PMT for long commuting -Determine the number of long distance commuters - Obtain zip code data to determine the distance - Verify Color coding of permits has been accounted for - break out all permit colors for analysis -Coordinate limits of model with the shuttle group -Commuting model will stop at the edge of campus and shuttle model will handle all on campus travel.

3 Approach to the Commuting Model (con’t)‏ -Review the impact of the reduction of Metro routes due to budget cuts (March 2009)‏ -Research national averages for holiday travel increases -Review “Fudge Factors” and attempt to expand and clarify these numbers -Review the MPG of student and staff owned vehicles compared to the average values used -Review the impact of weather on commuting. -Colder days = More cars -Warmer days = More bikes and walking
