3 What’s Wrong?

4 Scientist work in labs and conduct experiments as they probe the deepest mysteries of how our world works. Conducting scientific investigations is a way for students to learn about the scientific method and explore science as a career. However, science labs often contain health and safety hazards. Science lab rules help prevent dangerous and even potentially fatal accidents.

5 1. Conduct yourself in a responsible manner at all times in the kitchen laboratory.

6 2. Follow all written and verbal instructions carefully.
If you do not understand a direction or part of a procedure, ASK YOUR TEACHER BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH THE ACTIVITY.

7 3. Never work alone in the laboratory.
No student may work in the kitchen/science classroom without the presence of the teacher

8 4. When first entering a foods/science room, do not touch any
equipment, chemicals, or other materials in the laboratory area until you are instructed to do so.

9 5. Perform only those experiments authorized by your teacher.
Carefully follow all instructions, both written and oral.  Unauthorized experiments are not allowed.
