3. The McFarland family won a vacation to France in the most incredible way. It was a sunny Sunday. Amy saw a poster on the bulletin board at the Wal-Mart in Exton. The poster said ….. Win a trip to France! Enter your name in the box below.

4. Amy begged her mom to enter the contest. She begged, and begged, until finally she entered. Finally the day came… Monday was the day of the raffle! Amy and her family went to the West Caln Fire Department. Amy crossed everything. She even crossed her toes for crying out loud! They pulled a name, and the name was…… Amy McFarland!!! When Amy heard that she almost screamed! She ran up onto the stage and the announcer gave her five tickets to France.

5. The McFarland family arrived in France at 9:00 am on Sunday morning. The tickets expired on Wednesday so they had to use them quickly.

6. When they got to France, Amy wanted to see the Eiffel Tower. Her mom said, “That is too far away and we only have until Thursday when we have to leave for home.”

7. Amy’s mom saw a bookstore just down the road. She said, “Let’s go in and check out some books.” Amy didn’t really like this idea. Amy doesn’t really like to read books, and her mom is always trying to get her to like books.

8. The bookstore was small, but had a lot of books inside. Amy walked in, looked for the chapter books and a book caught her attention. It was a mystery book.The book was old but it looked cool. So Amy got the book.

9. When Amy got to the counter the cashier said, “Are you sure you want to get that book? “ “Yes! “ “I think you shouldn't get that book let me have it.” “NO! NOW CHECK ME OUT GRAMPA!” demanded Amy. “O.k.” said the cashier, “But I warned you. “ “Oh would you shut up !”

10. “AMY!” said her mom. “What? “said Amy “You don’t talk to him like that. “ “Oh no it’s fine I get yelled at all the time,” said the cashier. “Well it’s not o.k. with me,” said Amy’s mom.

11. “Now we must be going - bye,” said Amy’s mom. “O.k. have fun,” said the cashier.” “I hope you like the book.” “Oh, I will like it all right,” replied Amy. “Well o.k. bye now,” said the cashier.

12. He had warned her about the book. Now it was too late.
