Information Counter – the genre is used around the main area of the student union; the users will walk up to the posters to see if anything interests them; students and professors of UNCC; they all want to get more information about an activity People Talking – the genre is used at the entrance of the student union; girls are having a casual conversation; they all attend UNCC Buying Food – the genre is used at Wendy’s; people come here to purchase food; people that come here are students and professors of UNCC; they are all hungry and want food

7. What is the interaction it accomplishes? Information Counter – it gives information about the activities that are soon occurring People Talking – casual conversation between friends Buying Food – the students converse with the workers about what they want

Information Counter– students and professors of UNCC use the genre to find out info about upcoming events People Talking – students at UNCC converse about casual topics Buying Food – students and professors buy food because they are hungry Each user does changes for each genre piece because for the “information counter” there is no conversation at all because there is not another person, for the “people talking” is a casual conversation and personal topics because they are all friends, and for the “buying food’’ there is a fast and polite kind of conversation because they don’t really know each other

Information Counter– it tells the users who, what, when, where, and why about events and activities People Talking – the girls could be talking about friends, food, or activities (casual) Buying Food – price, well-being, detailed question about a certain type of food

Information Counter– users walk up to the posters and are informed about the events on campus People Talking – students are getting to know each other, asking about each others’ day, casually talking Buying Food – the customer tells the cashier what they want and the cashier replies with the price of the food

11. What roles does the genre suggest for participants? Information Counter– it informs and educates the users about events on campus People Talking – conversations are entertaining for people Buying Food – it is a place for students to go to buy food and get rid of their hunger (easy access)

Information Counter– professional, inviting and persuading to an event People Talking – casual because the students know each other, friendly because students want to be polite Buying Food – formal and polite because the customer doesn't know the cashier too well

Information Counter– the union is where the most students go so it is an easy way to distribute information People Talking – the union is where most students hang out so a lot of people talk and get to know each other there Buying Food – the union is where most people go so it’s easy access to food

Information Counter– it allows the union to be a place where info can be distributed easily People Talking – it makes the union seem like a place to hang out and chill so more people will go there to see their friends Buying Food – because of the easy access to food, more people will go there to hang out and get food too

Information Counter– it allows users to get info about an event or activity but it doesn't’t allow them to ask questions in return People Talking – it allows people to get to know one another and have casual conversations Buying Food – it allows students to get food, pay for it, and eat it but it doesn't allow them to choose ANY food (only food from Wendy’s), it limits them to choose only from what’s on the Wendy’s menu

Information Counter– they are both served because the users get the info from the Information Counter and the person or company who put up the posters or anything in there will have achieved its goal of distributing the information Students Talking – everyone’s needs are served because conversations are reciprocal so they are all talking to each other Buying Food – those who’s needs are most served are the hungry students who buy the food

Information Counter– No, because the user cannot ask questions so he/she is limited to the information given on the poster People Talking – yes, because since they most likely know each other, they are being themselves and talking about anything Buying Food – no, the customer most likely doesn't know the cashier so the conversation is short

Social Information Counter– it informs the users about who, what, when, where, and why an event or activity is People Talking – friends are having casual conversations Buying Food – the customer tells the cashier what they want and the cashier tells them the price, they might ask each other how they are today or say “have a good day” to one another
