2. Background Imformation One direction are an English-Irish boy band based in London. There are 4 members, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan. There was a fifth member, Zayn Malik but he left in March. The group signed with Simon Cowell's record label Syco Records after being put together as a band and finishing third in the The X Factor in 2010.

3. Harry Styles Harry styles is 21 years old and was born on Febuary 1 st 1994. He was born in Redditch, Worcestershire. His mum is Anne Cox and his dad is Desmond Styles, he also has a sister called Gemma. His parents divorced. Harry went to Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School, and at 16 worked part-time at a local bakery.

4. Louis Tomlinson Louis William Tomlinson was born Louis Austin. He was born on 24 th December 1991. He is 23 years old. Louis is from Doncaster, South Yorkshire. His parents are Johannah Poulston and Troy Austin, his parents split and Louis took his step dads last name of Tomlinson. He has 4 half sisters called Charlotte, Félicite and identical twins Daisy and Phoebe.

5. Niall Horan Niall Horan was born September 13, 1993 and is age 21. He was born in Mullingar, Republic of Ireland. His parents are Maura Gallagher, Bobby Horan and his brother is Greg Horan. His parents divorced when he was 5. he was a pupil at Coláiste Mhuire, a boys' Christian Brothers school.

6. Liam Payne Liam James Payne was born 29 August 1993 and is age 21. He is from Wolverhampton, West Midlands. He was born three weeks early, to Karen and Geoff Payne. He has two older sisters, Ruth and Nicola. Until the age of four, He had regular tests done in hospital as doctors noticed one of his kidneys was scarred and dysfunctional. As a student, Liam was heavily involved in sports. He was bullied in secondary school and took up boxing lessons at the age of 12. He was a music technology student at City of Wolverhampton College.

7. The X Factor In 2010, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson auditioned as solo artists. They didn’t make it into the boys judges house but they were put together to make a band in boot camp so they went into the groups judges house. They were through to the live shows and after 4 weeks of the live shows they became very popular but only managed to come third in the final.

8. Albums One Direction have four albums: Up All Night-2011 Take Me Mome-2012 Midnight Memories-2013 Four-2014 All four albums topped that charts in most major markets. After the release of Four, One Direction became the first band in the U.S. Billboard 200 history to have their first four albums debut at number one. Their third album, Midnight Memories, was the biggest- selling album worldwide in 2013 even though it was released in late November.

9. Achievements They’ve been awarded 5 Brit awards, 4 MTV music awards, 11 MTV Europe music awards and 19 teen choice awards. By 2012 they represented a $50 million business empire. They were claimed to be 2012's "Top New Artist" by Billboard. In 2014, Billboard named One Direction the top artist of the year.

10. Tours/Concerts One Direction have done 4 tours. They are currently doing On The Road Again Tour, this tour started when Zayn was part of the group. Their tours were: Up All Night Tour -2011–12 Take Me Home Tour -2013 Where We Are Tour -2014 On The Road Again Tour -2015 They have also been opening acts at 2 different events. They were the opening acts at: X Factor Tour -2011 Big Time Rush’s, Better with U Tour -2012
