1 The International Baccalaureate is a non-profit organization founded in 1968. It has 3 programs (Early / Middle / Diploma) which are currently taught in over 3600 schools in 146 countries to over 1,100,000 students. Its aims are to help to develop the personal, emotional and social skills to be able to live, learn and work in a rapidly globalizing world. International Baccalaureate

7 Joins the Experimental Sciences Changes from Group 5 to Group 4 as an non- elective subject (= can be taken instead of a science) Has to have options Has to participate in the Group 4 project

8 We have options Students (or more likely schools) must select one of following four options to study, in addition to the common program Object Oriented Programming (Java) Web Science Simulation and Modelling Databases

9 Project Common Assessment Criteria for both SL and HL No more mastery aspects Project can focus on one of the four options Project to be submitted digitally

10 Programming Language All students have to study a programming language But it does have to be Java? Yes, if the option is OOP (otherwise no) Algorithmic questions will be written in pseudocode (except for Paper 2 OOP)

11 Case Study It’s radically different Only for HL students Of a specific topic well beyond the depth presently required There will be a new Case Study every year
