6 September 11, 2001 Terrorists board planes…. By 9:30am the country is under attack – WTC, Pentagon, Flight 93 Fear, shock, and panic The U.S. is forever a changed nation.

Osama Bin Laden – Terrorist Leader (al Qaeda) Coalition forces join the U.S. to free the Afghan Government from Taliban Rule. Afghan Government restored to Democratic rule by December, 2001

9 Afghanistan (cont.) Fear that many Taliban and al Qaeda terrorists have fled to Pakistan. 2011 – Bin Laden is killed in Pakistan Fighting still today….. 2 years will pull out.

10 The War in Iraq – Round 2 Fear that Saddam Hussein has WMD Hussein alleged to be helping terrorists Vast human rights violations U.S. Invasion of Iraq begins on March 20, 2003 Saddam is captured December 13, 2003 Today Iraq is being rebuilt, U.S. Soldiers on a Peace Keeping/Support Mission (3,000) 4,486 U.S. soldiers killed – 33,000 wounded.
