8 + WELL PLANNED CITY Make an aerial map of a city on grid paper. This is a city with spatial inequality but your job is to plan it out so that there is not urban sprawl. You must include the following: Color Map key, Compass, Title Economic institutions (ways your city makes money) A mode of transportation that helps reduce traffic Resources spread so that people do not have to travel to the city center (food, education, medical, fire, police) Apartments, homes, neighborhoods, parks/green space,water Uses space efficiently (does not sprawl out and destroy habitats) Written explanation

10 + Sensible Planning What factors would help determine the buildings needed and how many of each? Where will people be employed? In what industries? Are there some sorts of buildings we could really do without? Do we need more than one grocery store? Are there some options that we could combine?

A school on the opposite side of town from residential areas? A shopping mall in a sparsely populated area? A park next to a neighborhood?
