POETRY PROJECT Karriemah Duncan

LADY IN MY LIFE BY: KARRIEMAH DUNCAN With all the pain and struggle the she had I still can’t see how she smiling and grinning but not mad Her heart is like steel concrete She is so strong and that’s one of her morals that she will always keep With all these so-called role models in the spotlight Aint it something to have one everyday in your life She tells me to look at her, you have nothing to complain about When sometimes she had nothing to put in her mouth Smile, smile your life is great Stay a child as long as you can, you can always wait She would give life for the three of us And for that my love for her is a must When you disrespect your mom all the time That truly is a crime When I disappoint you I know you hate But like Tupac said you are appreciated

Lady in my life paragraph “Lady in my life” by Karriemah Duncan is about showing appreciation to your mother. It is also showing the struggle and pain that she has been through. The poem includes a simile example “Her heart is like steel concrete. The allusion that is in the poem is “ Like Tupac said you are appreciated”. This poem really shows my appreciation for my mother.

Haiku BY: Karriemah Duncan Not there to call on Always have problems to face But still you are fam.

HAIKU PARAGRAPH “My family” haiku by: Karriemah Duncan is about how family can be a hard trial but they still is family. A Haiku uses the rhyme scheme of five, seven, five. It doesn’t necessary have to rhyme. It is not talking about a person in general but the whole family. Every family have trials.

Me Against the World BY:KARRIEMAH DUNCAN Through all the craziness Some routes are not easy to take It’s hard to find some happiness There are some bad decisions that you make Just to sell yourself for a quick dolla Never let people take In this world there are some many things not to follow “Don’t settle for less” “Don’t sell yourself cheap” Be grateful for your blessings Always be the best you can be Set goals in life Even poor people have integrity always fight for your rights A lot of people try to fit in They tell lies and do things that’s not right But the righteous will always win God is your only true friend If you have changed never go back then Its me against the world

“Me Against The World PARAGRAPH “Me against the world” by Karriemah Duncan is about how the world is changing and how we need to change so that we can be a better place. This poem is using a,b rhyme scheme, it also includes allusion for example “Don’t sell yourself cheap” which is from Tupac Me Against the world.

“I Cry” By: TUPAC Sometimes when I'm alone I Cry, Cause I am on my own. The tears I cry are bitter and warm. They flow with life but take no form I Cry because my heart is torn. I find it difficult to carry on. If I had an ear to confide in, I would cry among my treasured friend, but who do you know that stops that long, to help another carry on. The world moves fast and it would rather pass by. Then to stop and see what makes one cry, so painful and sad. And sometimes... I Cry and no one cares about why.

“I Cry” Paragraph The poem “I Cry” by Tupac is saying that sometimes he feels alone and just need to cry. Also I think he is saying that the world is so centered that no one really take the time to notice other peoples feelings and their hurt. Rarely people ever reach out to us. Sometimes you have to lend your own shoulder. When no one is there you have yourself.

“I Am Yours And You Are Mine” BY: Melissa Weaver As I sit here and daydream Of the first day we met I can still see your eyes gleam And I feel as if I won a bet You’re mine to keep For now and forever. I love you with all my heart, Our love is so deep It’s as if we are a piece of art So I’m yours and you are mine.’

“I Am Yours And You Are Mine” Paragraph “I am yours and you are mine” by Melissa Weaver is about showing appreciation to the one you love. As well as how much you love one another. I the poem uses a metaphor in verse 9 where it says It’s as if we are a piece of art. It also uses imagery in verses 3 where it says I can still see your eyes gleam. Over all always tell the one you love how much you love them.
