CAD : Sustainable Farming ContractAudrey Boisron & Agnès Ricroch /19 3 I / Presentation of the CAD It is an voluntary agreement between a farmer and the préfet de département valid for 5 years. “It involves more than the application of usual good farming practices.” It relates to a set of pre-established measures chosen by farmer. One measure at least has an environmental purpose. It is validated by the Departemental Commission for Agricultural Policy (in French: CDOA Commission Départementale d'Orientation de l'Agriculture).

Agriculture) The role of the departmental redactor is major, because he is often the only one to decide of sources of scientific knowledge to use.
