2. PREVALENCE 1 in 4 women experience domestic abuse at some point in their lives. In the UK each week 2 women are killed by partner/ex- partner. 1 in 40 of the elderly population experience abuse from a relative, friend or carer. 15% of all reported violent incidents relate to domestic abuse. 1 in 3 child protection cases show a history of domestic abuse, usually to the mother. 42% of the population say they personally know someone who has suffered domestic abuse.
