1 World Space Observatory/ UV: Status report ( materials for the presentation of Mr. Yu.Nosenko ) Mr. Yu.Nosenko ) WSO/UV is an international space observatory for carrying out astronomical observations in ultraviolet spectral range (91-350 nm). Such observations can’t be provided from the Earth surface. The WSO/UV observatory includes the telescope with primary mirror of 170 cm and scientific astronomical instruments – imaging field cameras and 3 spectrometers (resolving power ranges between 2000 and 60000). Launch of the spacecraft is presently scheduled for 2009. WSO/UV is an international space observatory for carrying out astronomical observations in ultraviolet spectral range (91-350 nm). 8 On participation of India in WSO/UV Indian astronomers expressed their interest in participation in the Project. Long Slit Spectrometer’s electronic was suggested as possible contribution of India Federal Space Agency has invited ISRO to join the project. (see letter of Mr.Polishchuk to Dr. G.Madhaven Nair of September 14, 2004) Dr. Narayanan (the Paris based representative of ISRO) participated in the WSO/UV Spectrograph meeting 7-9 December 2004, Tuebingen, Germany. Dr. Narayanan is expected to report in detail on the proceedings of this meeting and convey the conclusions and detailed proposals to ISRO to his Headquarters.

9 Conclusions  The current meeting seems to be a good opportunity to establish ways for deeper discussions on the mutual interest of Russia and India in the international Project WSO/UV
