 United Nations forces stop the attack briefly  North Korea pushes the U.N. forces to edge of South Korea

 U.S. troops become involved heavily and under General MacArthur make a daring landing in Inchon

 Surprise tactic works and the North Koreans are pushed back quickly

 Americans were warned to stay away from the Yalu region, or risk an all out war with China and the Soviet Union

 MacArthur believed the Chinese were bluffing and kept going- bringing the Chinese and Soviets into the war….oops!

 Truman fired MacArthur for not listening and for sending a letter to a Congress- man criticizing Truman’s decision making abilities.

 After a see-saw battle, the war finally ended in July 1953 at the 38 th Parallel and a more than 2 mile demilitarized zone.
