2 Background  Goal - Promotion of optimal use of eco-labels for enhancing environmental sustainability and economic welfare Purpose - Generation of improved understanding of the communicative power of environmental and social labels for enhancing consumer welfare and environmental sustainability Period : January 2011 – December 2012 (24 months) Partner: National Institute for Consumer Research (SIFO) 2

4 Progress to Date July2011- September 2011 Planning & preparation for quantitative and qualitative field survey of T & C exporters/consumers An econometric model/equation to collect primary data to examine impact of environ standards on Indian T & C sector Formulation of draft questionnaire for quantitative and qualitative survey of T & C firms/associations Preliminary stakeholder’s survey in Norway October 2011- December 2011 Appointed Ace Global, LLP - a professional survey agency to conduct the survey in India – under CUTS procurement policy, 2010 One Day workshop followed by personal interviews/field survey in India on technical, economic & cultural barriers ongoing in five major textile centres Prepared draft questionnaire for consumer survey by SIFO Consumer survey in Norway, Sweden, Germany & France will be conducted by SIFO Preliminary draft report on the field survey in India 4
