1 Powering Up!

2 Newton's Third Law of Motion:
Fun Facts Newton's Third Law of Motion: For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

3 Kinds of Energy

4 Electrical Energy Electrical Energy is the movement of electrical charges. Electrical charges moving through a wire is called electricity. Lightning is another example of electrical energy.

5 Chemical Energy Chemical Energy is energy stored in the bonds of atoms and molecules. It is the energy that holds these particles together. When you bake a cake, energy is absorbed by the batter as it changes from a runny mix into a cake.

6 Nuclear Energy Nuclear Energy is energy stored in the nucleus of an atom––the energy that holds the nucleus together. Scientists are working on creating fusion energy on earth, so that someday there might be fusion power plants.

7 Fuel Fact Sheet

8 Fuel Cell Electric 1839 William Grove
120 years later NASA developed fuel cells for use during space flight 1998 Chicago first city to power buses. Require some form of Hydrogen

9 Hybrid Electric 1830s-1920s popular energy source for vehicles
Uses electrical and mechanical energy Ford, GM and DaimlerChrysler have hybrid vehicles Japan was first in 1997, Toyota Run off gasoline or renewable resources. Do not have to be fueled as often

10 Liquefied Petroleum Gas
Nonrenewable gaseous fossil fuel 1910 Dr. Walter Snelling Third most common transportation fuel U.S. is world’s largest producer of LPG Mostly used for heating and cooking
