I. Management imbedded in each department/area org structure/departmentalization is determined by mgmt which determines decision-making authority (centralized vs. decentralized) tactical, operational, and strategic planning planning, organizing, leading, controlling

II. Human Resources employee selection - posting, initial screening for entire company, recommendations for 2nd round interviews labor contracts/negotiations - serve all the employee groups of the company employee work rules - inform all workers of company policy benefits - inform employees about their benefits and their options

Human Resources (cont’d) salary issues - work with dept. managers on salary ranges, raises, etc. promotions - work with dept. managers on proper ways to promote employees employee terminations - work with dept. managers on proper dismissal procedures

III. Production/Operations supply chain management - good relationships with supplier, customers ordering raw materials - coordinate with acct and mkt/sales….proper inventory levels workplace safety issues - consult with HR dept, external agencies physical production process - manage the equipment/machinery and the workers

IV. Marketing product research and development - coordinate activities with acct and legal sales activities - order getters, order takers, int’l business, distribution issues sales promotions - work with acct dept on setting prices, coordinate with purchasing and production depts so that enough product is on hand product pricing - research competitors’ prices, work with acct. dept.

V. Information Systems monitoring systems, fixing problems providing support to users decision support tools - providing systems and/or reports that assist managers coordinate batch and real-time processing maintain company web site, work with depts on keeping info current securing systems

VI. Accounting responsible for company’s financial record- keeping, therefore, consulted by all depts. Also contacts employees when detecting errors. (i.e. internal auditing) coordinate with HR and depts in payroll processing prepare financial statements/analysis for mgmt staff provide tax advice to depts inform sales depts about customers with overdue accounts

VII. Finance Managing working capital - consult various depts as needed updating mgmt on investment activities monitoring cash flow and finding appropriate sources of cash when necessary
