3 Assessment Options Inventory checklists Anecdotal records Formal test data (Nationally norm-referenced test for formal identification) Peer nominations Parent interviews/questionnaires Teacher recommendations Student awards specific to gifted categories Other valid and reliable documentation

4 Categories of Giftedness General Intellectual (advanced reasoning) Specific Academic Aptitude (math, language arts, science, and social studies) Creative Thinking Leadership Visual/Performing Arts (drama, music, visual arts, & dance)

5 Testing General Intellectual- Raven and/or Naglieri (both nonverbal tests) Specific Academic Aptitude- Stanford, GRADE, and CTBS Creative Thinking- Williams Leadership- Self assessment Performing Arts- Not tested; based on recommendations, awards, and critiques of performances Visual Arts- Art portfolio; scored by art educators
