What makes a Good Ending? Once Upon Another Time…

Ending a Story. A good ending draws all the threads of the story together, and ties them together neatly. A good ending resolves any conflicts in your story. A good ending completes the telling of events. A good ending satisfies the reader.

So can you end a story? Conclusive- this is when you finish by drawing to an end all the events that have happened. Cliff-hanger- This is when you finish in a way that leaves the reader in suspense, wondering what happened next. Direct Speech- this is when you finish by one of the characters saying something. Reflective- This is when you finish by thinking about what has happened in the story. Decide ending has been used each time!

Ending 1 Little Red Riding Hood lived happily ever after in the forest, and the wolf never crossed her path again.

Ending 2 The two grey heads bent towards each other as they hatched a plan, “Change places, ….swap clothes, …..frighten her,….. teach her respect, …….after all, it’s for her own good!”

Ending 3 Little Red Riding Hood swung in the hammock in her garden it hadn’t been a bad day really, she thought. It’s not every day I get to murder a wolf!

Ending 4 Little Red Riding Hood and the woodcutter laughed and joked about the day that they had experienced, when suddenly a rustling sound came from behind the bush.

Did any of the endings use more than one type of ending? How will you end the story?
